چکیده

Growth hormone (GH) plays a central role in growth and production through its influence on important metabolic activities in mammals which prompted its wide commercial use including use as a candidate marker. In present experiment, polymorphism at exon 1 and 2 of Growth Hormone gene (GH) was studied using PCR– RFLP in crossbred and exotic pigs, commonly found in north east India. Restriction enzyme digestion of 607 bp PCR amplicon with ApaI, HaeII, DdeI and MspI revealed 3, 3, 3 and 1 genotyopes, respectively. Comparison of obtained sequences revealed large scale nucleotide and residue substitutions. Observed polymorphism may be associated with wide variability in growth (rate) of different breeds of pig.

Association between growth hormone gene polymorphisms and growth traits in Cyprinus carpio from the Caspian Sea

Growth hormone (GH) is the most important hormone that controls somatic cell growth and the syntheses of protein, fat, and carbohydrates. This study was to identify gene polymorphism of GH-1 using PCR- single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) technique and its association with growth traits including condition factor (CF), body weight (BW) and total length (TL) in common carp (Cyprinus ca...

Transcription of growth hormone mRNA as a molecular marker of egg quality in Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii)

The Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii) is an economically important species. Sturgeon stockassessment during fingerling production is considered to be one of the most difficult phases ofhatchery rearing. The present study investigated the expression of growth hormone (GH)mRNA in unfertilized eggs, fertilized eggs, eyed eggs (2 day before hatching), non-viable eggsand newly-hatched Siberian st...

Heterosis for litter size traits in native by two exotic inbred pig crosses

Inbred strains generated from native and exotic pigs were compared with their F1and f2 backcross populations for a range of litter size performance traits. Animals were intensively reared and at 81⁄2 months of age, the inbred genotypes from each strain were reciprocally mated to each other to generate F1 crossbred genotypes; while gilts from each crossbred group were backcrossed to their male p...

Production and functional characterization of human insulin-like growth factor 1

Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) is a polypeptide hormone produced mainly by the liver in response to the endocrine growth hormone (GH) stimulus. This protein is involved in a wide range of cellular functions, including cellular differentiation, transformation, apoptosis suppression, migration and cell-cycle progression and other metabolic processes. In the current study, human heart cDNA w...

Expression of growth hormone gene during early development of Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii)

The mRNA expression of growth hormone (GH) gene in early development stages of Siberian sturgeon was investigated using RT-PCR method. Samples were collected from unfertilized eggs up to 50 days post hatched (dph) larvae in 11 different times. Ribosomal protein L6 (RPL6) transcripts were used as the internal standard during quantification of GH mRNA expression. The results showed that the GH mR...
